Educate professionals in occupational therapy with the knowledge, values and attitudes that enable professionals to design, organize and implement rehabilitation projects, as well as venture into the area of research for the generation of new knowledge.
This program of studies has been designed using as a guide the academic standards of Mexico and the academic standards of the U.S. Specifically, the standards of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) was used so that graduates can have the opportunity to apply and take the U.S. national examination to practice as OTs. The exam is administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Students who graduate from INTSA’s MOT academic program who wish to practice as occupational therapists in the USA must meet specific requirements. These include performing an additional six months of clinical practice in pediatrics and adult rehab under an OTR’s guidance and supervision (this is above and beyond the INTSA’s academic program). Following successful completion of this additional practice, the graduate must apply to take the American national OT exam administered by NBCOT in the USA. Once the national exam is successfully passed, the graduate must apply for a state license to practice as an OT. Students who do not wish to take the NBCOT exam, will receive his/her diploma as an OT to practice in Mexico and in other countries where Mexican studies are accepted.
The successful graduate will demonstrate skills in the management and implementation of theoretical and philosophical concepts regarding the occupational nature of humans. The graduate’s knowledge of the biological and social sciences, as well as the use of occupation as the cornerstone of the profession, will allow her or him to promote the independence and quality of life of clients and families, their community, and society in general. The graduate will also use her/his skills, values, flexibility, and leadership to work for the promotion of health, the inclusion of all in the system, and the promotion of occupational justice. In addition, the Master’s degree graduate, based upon their skills and knowledge of research and evidence-based practice, will also be expected to generate new knowledge in support of the advancement of the profession.

The examination for admission will evaluate basic knowledge basic of: • Anatomy of the upper limbs. • Neuroanatomy. • Physiology. • Pathology. • Psychology. A study guide will be provided to the applicants to prepare for the exam.
Those who take the entrance exam must pass with a minimum grade of 80%.
